MCMC WELCOMES TOM BERGMAN TO THE TEAM

Tom Bergman

The Murray County Medical Center is very pleased to welcome new provider Tom Bergman to the team. “I was born in this hospital,” stated the new physician’s assistant, “and I’ve wanted to come back for a long time.”

Mr. Bergman was raised in Fulda, graduating with the class of 2003. He earned his doctorate in physical therapy from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion and worked at Mayo Clinic in Rochester for seven years. But early in his career he realized he wanted something more, so he studied at St. Scholastica in Duluth, completing his master’s degree for physician assistant this past February. Mr. Bergman said, “Covid slowed things down, but I was able to complete all fourteen rotations at Mayo Clinic.” He added he found pieces of every type of medicine interesting and is looking forward to a generalist approach to health care. Of course Tom is most experienced in physical therapy and though he knows he will make referrals, he also will share ideas for exercises that can control pain without medication. “This facility is super impressive,” remarked Tom, “and they still have good outreach services. I’m really thankful for their flexibility with me and all of the opportunities I will have to learn more.”

Tom and his wife Ashleigh have two young sons, Graham (4) and Emmett (18 months). When he’s not busy with work or family, he likes golf, carpentry and anything outdoors. Our new physician’s assistant is certified and prepared to accept patients beginning July 6th. Call MCMC at 507-836- 6153 for an appointment and welcome Tom back home!
