The Rebel Track and Field teams traveled to Cottonwood to compete in a 15 team meet. With such a large meet, many of the events would have 3050 participants. Although the weather conditions were not favorable, the Rebels had some impressive performances.

Sprinter Brealyn Damm placed high in two different events. She was runner up in the long jump, with a leap of 15’. On the track, she ran to a 5th place finish in the 100 hurdles. The medley relay team of Abby Overman, Lindsey Hause, Brylei Schreier, and Sophia Nelson crossed the line in 3rd place. Hause and Nelson also had 5th place finishes in their individual events, Hause 300 hurdles and Nelson - 1600, while Schreier placed 6th in the 400. Thrower Callie Platt threw for a personal record in the shot put, 28’4.25”, good enough for a 6th place finish.

Anikan Larson continues to show great promise early in his first year in track. Larson passed four other runners down the straight away coming in 2nd in the 200 with a time of 24.58. Alex Betz ran his first mile run of the season, finishing in 5th place. Freshman pole vaulter and sprinter Caleb Rosenbrook came in 5th in the pole vault, despite being one of the youngest in the field. Rosenbrook also teamed up with Thomas Huso, Anikan Larson and Andrew Holm to place 6th in the 4x100 relay. Carter Knakmuhs established a personal record in the high jump, 5’4”, placing 7th in the event. Hudson Schryvers, doing double duty this spring, competing in track and golf, placed 8th in the 800. Throwers Thomas Huso and Broox Platt each had top 10 finishes with Huso placing 8th in the shot put and Platt 9th in the discus and 10th in the shot.

The tracksters next travel to Pipestone on April 20th.
