On Saturday, April 20th, the MCC track teams traveled to Pipestone for a ten team track meet. With temperatures in the thirties and wind chills in the twenties, the conditions were less than ideal but the Rebel athletes made the best of it, turning out some season best performances.

With other school activities also taking place, there were limited participants competing for the Rebels. Anikan Larson had three top five finishes on the day. He placed 2nd in the 200, 4th in the 100 and 5th in the long jump. Freshman Caleb Rosenbrook continues to improve in the pole vault, placing 2nd with a vault of 10’. Torin ThunderHawk had a 3rd placing finish in the high jumping, reaching a height of 5’8”. Blaine Braun also placed 3rd running the 110 hurdles. Wesley Hause rounded out the top finishers for the Rebels, placing 7th in the 3200.

The MCC girls went 2-3 in the open 800 with Sophia Nelson and Brylei Schreier. Schreier teamed up with Courtney Gengler, Jada Hellewell and Abby Overman to place 2nd in the 4x200 relay. Hellewell and Overman placed 2nd and 7th in the triple jump. Holland Vogel also had a second place finish in the 3200m. In the field events, Brealyn Damm placed 2nd in the long jump and 7th in the high jump. Erica Doeden had a 7th place finish in the discus. Panther II Track Invite

The track teams traveled to Tracy for the second time this year, on April 23rd, for an 8 team meet.

Anikan Larson showed continued improvement, getting two personal records on the day on his way to a second place finish in the 200 (24.22) and fourth place finish in the 100 (11.92). He also teamed up with Luke Iverson, Andrew Holm and Carson Engelkes in the 4x400 relay where they placed third. Caleb Rosenbrock also got a personal record in his main event, the pole vault, reaching a height of 10’6”. Carter Knakmuhs and Blaine Braun made great improvements in the hurdle races, placing 6th and 7th in the 110s. Thrower Broox Platt tossed a season best 38’ in the shot put, placing him 6th. Distance runners Beckett Stelter, Hudson Schryvers, Henry Carlson and Alex Betz ran a team season best in the 4x800 relay where they placed 3rd. Stelter individually placed 6th in the 800 and Betz was 4th in the 3200m. The sprint 4x100 relay team of Rosenbrock, Holm, Iverson and Thomas Huso placed 6th.

The girls team was shorthanded due to many participants in the state FFA convention, limiting their entries. That did not stop those there from achieving some great results. Brylei Schreier had two 1st place finishes on the night, crossing the line first in the 200 and 400. Brealyn Damm had three individual top five finishes, placing 4th in the 100 hurdles and high jump, while placing 5th in the long jump. She also was a member of the 6th place 4x200 team, pairing with Reese Gilbertson, Lily Daniels and Suttyn Schryvers. Those three teamed up with Courtney Gengeler in the 4x100 relay that also placed 6th. Gilbertson, showing great overall potential, placed 6th in the high jump.
