Betty Mae (Hennix) Bennett

Betty Mae (Hennix) Bennett, age 88. Our precious Mom passed away on July 15, 2020 from congestive heart failure.

Betty was born in Clinton, MN to Harry and Mayme Hennix. She attended Gustavus Adolphus College and earned degrees in English and Music. Upon graduation she moved to Slayton, MN to teach English, where she met the love of her life, Gerald (Jerry) Bennett. Together they raised seven children in Slayton, which was the epitome of the perfect small town in which to raise a family.

In 2004 they moved to the Twin Cities area, where 5 of their 7 kids live. Her beloved Jerry passed away in 2014. These latest years of Mom’s life were filled with family, friends, fun trips to see Grandkids all around the country, and simply enjoying every minute of living in her beautiful lake-side apartment at Lake Minnetonka Shores.

We will all miss our loving, witty, classy Mom beyond words. She told us so often that she had the most blessed, charmed life and was so grateful for everyone and everything in her life.

Betty is survived by her children Dave, Steve (Teri), Mary, Sue (Peter), Jim (Kathy), Tom and Anne. She deeply loved each of her 10 grandchildren (Charlie, Jack, Erin, Andy, Katie, Camilla, Carsten, Kendra, Kylan, and Samantha, as well as her 5 great-grandchildren, Beau, Elijah, Eloise, Andersen and Genevieve. Betty is also survived by her sister, Marian Gabel, as well as a wide circle of friends.

Due to COVID, we are having a private family memorial service for this oh-so-special woman.

In lieu of flowers, we’d love to hear from her friends at rememberingbetty2020@gmail.com, or The Bennett Family, 5325 Manitou Road, Excelsior MN 55331.
