Murray County Foundation Elects Officers And Directors
The Murray County Foundation (MCF) elected officers and directors at its annual meeting held in Slayton on August 18, 2018. The following officers were elected for two year terms ending December 31, 2020: Steve Laible, President; Judy Laboda, Vice President; Kathy Rehbein; Secretary; and Lee Johnson, Treasurer. In addition to officers, the following people are serving as Directors: Dixie Digidio, Karen Burch and Matt Onken.
The purpose of MCF is to maintain and improve the quality of life for everyone living in Murray County through the perpetuation of charitable projects and programs. Current projects and programs include the: Wayne Onken Scholarship Fund that helps area schools provide post secondary scholarships; Veteran’s Memorial and Remembrance program that helps maintain the dignity of local monuments that honor the service and sacrifice of Murray County Veterans; and Youth Development Fund that helps to build life long skills and habits through scouting and sports programs for the youth of Murray County.
MCF was incorporated in 2007 as a scholarship foundation by alumni of Slayton High School. MCF recently expanded its mission and purpose to include additional charitable areas that contribute to maintaining and improving the quality of life in Murray County.

Slayton Women of Today’s Autumn Boutique
Decorated in fall hues and with the last thoughts of summer, the Murray County Fairgrounds is the location of the annual Slayton Women of Today’s Autumn Boutique. This 26th annual event will be held on Friday, September 7th from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday, September 8th from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Murray County Fairgrounds in Slayton, Minnesota. During this two-day event this small community located on Highways 30 & 59 is transformed into a dynamic shopping haven.
This year there are OVER 90 exhibitors presenting such fine items as Traditional, Country, Wood, Seasonal Creations, Furniture, Home Decor, Clothing, Jewelry, Purses and much, much more. Traveling from the upper Midwest, exhibitors fill seven buildings plus outdoor booths. As a juried event, each exhibitor is reviewed on quality, pricing and uniqueness.
Besides the exceptional quality of shopping options, the Slayton Women of Today also manage a delicious food stand. The food stand opens at 8:00 a.m. each day. Throughout the event ongoing entertainment provides the proper atmosphere for a day of shopping and fellowship.
