Ameriprise Financial Volunteers Join Nationwide Effort to Feed Hungry Families at Marshall Senior Center

Local effort was one of more than 200 Ameriprise-sponsored events through-out the country on June 16

Ameriprise Financial advisors, employees and clients recently came together to help feed Marshall area families. Organized by Van der Hagen, Skogrand & Associates, nine people volunteered at Marshall Senior Center packing food shelf stable bags. This effort was focused on helping the 42 million people, including 13 million children and more than five million seniors, who struggle with hunger in the U.S.

The event is part of the semiannual national days of service arranged by Ameriprise in partnership with Feeding America, the nation’s largest hunger-relief organization. On June 16, 3,700 Ameriprise financial advisors, employees and clients spent the day participating in over 200 volunteer events across the country.

“Locally, we are a small firm of nine people and it’s great to be able to take time away from our desks to help others in need in our community,” said Corey Skogrand. “In the past we’ve dedicated a Friday afternoon each month to helping our local food shelf.  Going forward, we are also helping out at places like the Marshall Senior Center, Meals on Wheels, Heart to Heart and our local Hospice House.”

“We are grateful to have Ameriprise Financial assist us in packaging our shelf stable meals,” Laurie Eischens, site manager for the Marshall Senior Dining, stated. “Their support for our program and commitment to meals on wheels is very much appreciated.”
