FREE Classes for People New to Medicare
Slayton, MN, July 17, 2018 – There are important decisions that need to be made when you become eligible for Medicare. Making the wrong decision can lead to not having any or enough health care coverage and financial penalties. The Senior LinkAge Line® through the Minnesota River Area Agency on Aging® (MNRAAA) is sponsoring two classes for people who will soon be eligible for Medicare. Participants will learn the basics of Medicare and their coverage options in Minnesota during the first class. They will also learn how to research these options using non-biased tools, such as the Medicare website and the Medicare Plan Finder Tool during the second class.
Classes are held in Slayton on the second and third Monday of the month. Call the Senior LinkAge Line® at 1-800-333-2433 to register.
The Senior LinkAge Line® is a free statewide service of the Minnesota Board on Aging and Area Agencies on Aging. The Senior LinkAge Line® is the federally-designated State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) for Minnesota and is the place to call for Medicare and health insurance issues. Front Porch Music Series
The Murray County Historical Society kicked off its 4th season of the Front Porch Music Series on Thursday July 19th. This summer’s line-up started with a local favorite MedpleStreet. MapleStreet started as a father-son duo and developed into a full 6-member band that plays a fusion of folk, bluegrass, and rock. For a taste of their unique sound, find their music on https://SoundCloud.com/greg-wasberg
On Thursday July 26th, at 7 PM regional favorite Kayla Daniels will grace the stage. Kayla is a Nashville recording artist and singer/songwriter from the area. If you love artists like Miranda Lambert and Martina McBride with a kick of Rock n Roll, you’ll love Kayla.
The last concert of the series has proven to be a huge favorite in the past. Kordal Kombat, an award winning a cappella barbershop quartet will bring its high energy, fun loving performance to the porch on August 2nd at 7 PM. They sing a variety of music that is guaranteed to bring smiles to faces young and old.
The concerts are provided through free will donation and are open to the public. The Murray County Historical Society will serve popcorn and cold water during the concerts and a free will donation basket will be passed to help defray the cost of the concerts. These are family friendly events, so bring the kids, a blanket or lawn chairs and enjoy some great music under the big maple trees on the lawn.
If case of inclement weather, concerts will be held in the Murray County 4-H building on the fairgrounds.
