FSA Reminds Foreign Buyers of Requirements

The Agricultural Foreign Investment Disclosure Act (AFIDA) requires all foreign owners of U.S. agricultural land to report their holdings to the Secretary of Agriculture. The Farm Service Agency (FSA) administers this program for USDA.

All individuals who are not U.S. citizens, and have purchased or sold agricultural land in the county are required to report the transaction to FSA with 90 days of the closing. Failure to submit the AFIDA form (FSA-153) could result in civil penalties of up to 25 percent of the fair market value of the property. County government offices, Realtors, attorneys and others involved in real estate transactions are reminded to notify foreign investors of these reporting requirements.

Thank You!

The Murray County Early Childhood Initiative wishes to thank all who helped or participated in any way to make our 2017 Jail and Bail event on August 16th a great success. This year we raised $14,807! The money enables the ECI to fund all of their projects for the coming year. It will be used to make a difference for young children and their families throughout Murray County! A special thanks to all of our “jailbirds” and everyone who bailed them out; the MCC football team who helped set up and take down; MCMC for cookies and Culligan for water; law enforcement for the use of the shirts and “arresting” and picking up ‘jailbirds”, ACE volunteers; volunteer judges; and Paul Counter for all of his help. Murray County continues to be very supportive of its youngest citizens.
